"Valleys and Palaces of India", Highlights

Immerse yourself in the heart of the palaces of Rajasthan, where pagris, saris, and lehengas fill the air with a profusion of colors. With a multitude of visual and olfactory sensations, this region is a precious jewel of India. In the lush valleys bordering Tibet, where the Ganges originates, the spectacle of snow-capped peaks is sumptuous. The influence of Buddhist communities is evident, and the sanctuaries are richly decorated. On the saddle of your motorcycle, experience this adventure in the realm of the Arabian Nights, a paradise contrasting with the Himalayan foothills.

DELHI

The “tone” has been set! Horns blaring, traffic jams, a bustling city at all hours of the night and day—we’re here, in the realm of spice stalls, worship, and mysticism. Without further ado, we board our private bus for a quick immersion in the country’s history before heading to our first Indian overnight stay outside Delhi, where we’ll take possession of our legendary Royal Enfield motorcycles.

MUSSOORIE

215 km – 5h45

This is where the first part of the adventure begins, heading into the Himalayan foothills and the source of the popular and sacred Ganges. The roads are rather imperfect, as we enter the state of Uttarkarhand. We touch the first villages inhabited by the kindness and misery of the locals. After a two-hour drive, the first Himalayan ramparts rise on the horizon. At the end of the day, we arrive in Mussoorie, a town nicknamed “the Queen of the Hills.”
Road-trip moto Inde Air-Moto-Tours | Gangottri

UTTARKASHI

195 km – 4h30

Uttarshiki is usually the starting point for sublime treks and doses of adventure. For others, this place is just one stop on a true spiritual journey. For us, it’s a beautiful day on a motorbike during which we discover the cradle of Hindu mythology in northern India. We travel to Gangotri – Gomukh, at an altitude of 3,040 meters, a sacred place and land where the Ganges has its source. We allow ourselves some free time and we return in the mid-afternoon to our accommodation which we left that same morning.

SRINAGAR

155 km – 5h00

We’re heading to Rudraprayag, which, like Gangotri, is a key site of Hindu spirituality. However, there’s no doubt we’re here to ride our motorcycles, to feast our eyes, and not to decipher all of Hindu mythology. Our destination is Chopta, a region rich in forests, diverse in flora and fauna, and also known for its terraced rice fields. Some visitors even call this region “Chopta, mini Switzerland.”

DELHI

220 km – 5h00

The last stop of this first part, Haridwar (literally Hari = god and Dwar = door). Millions of people flock to this place every year, which hosts the KumbhMela (water pitcher festival) every 12 years, the largest spiritual gathering in the world; not stopping there would be an insult to this journey. No prayer is required, but a simple, humble stop is required in this place, which comes alive at first light. Transfer by bus to the heart of Delhi from its inner suburbs.
Road-trip moto Inde Air-Moto-Tours | Mandawa

MANDAWA

220 km – 5h00

Bus transfer to the outskirts of Delhi. For the second, more luxurious part of the journey, let’s head down to land, a place of Mughal abundance and prosperity. For a bit of tranquility, head to Rajasthan. The Shekhawati region, a land of sand, clay, steppes, and dunes, is known for housing the vestiges of a prosperous past. These havelis, the magnificently decorated former homes of wealthy merchants, are part of the world’s most important Mughal architectural heritage.
Road-trip moto Inde Air-Moto-Tours | Royal-Enfield Jaipur

JAIPUR

150 km – 3h00

Lush green plains and ochre deserts follow one another at breakneck speed. The distances between events are getting shorter and shorter, and the wealth of treasures to be discovered is jostling. After the Blue and White Cities, we enter the bustling “Pink City” of Jaipur. It is so nicknamed because of the color of the sandstone used for its buildings. In India, pink also symbolizes “welcome” and “welcome.”
Road-trip moto Inde Air-Moto-Tours | Agra Forteresse

AGRA

260 km – 5h15

Traveling from small village to small village, despite a stop along the way at one of the region’s historical sites, we’ll devote our morning to traveling to one of the key stops on the trip: Agra. Millions of tourists flock here every year to discover the two most famous buildings, both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit the impressive Red Fort with its 21-meter-high double ramparts.
